DANA - Explore the rich history of Newark
Overview & Purpose
After finishing my very first semester as an international student, I got an opportunity to work as a UX/UI designer
for the DANA (Digital Archive of Newark Architecture) project at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
An initiative of NJIT, this project documents the built environment in Newark, New Jersey. As a member of the DANA team,
I worked with mobile developers and stakeholders. The challenge is to build a mobile version with the AR scan feature.
Using the experience gained from this project, I intend to gain an understanding of people, work efficiently with the
development team, and present solutions to stakeholders.

Problem Statement
The user (students, faculty members, researchers, and residents of the Newark region) who are interested in design, history, and architecture needs to access a variety of historical materials to create a digital archive of previous and current projects in the region.
Process Overview
During our initial research with participants we found:
Participants who are older than 40 find it difficult to surf on website and prefers mobile version.
Students and researches gave more importance to “Collections” section.
All the participants wished “Camera + AR Scan” feature to quickly identify the structure.
Researchers and Professors said they find it difficult to search items.
Residents prefer easy to learn user interface.
