IntelliLib - Modern Library Webiste
Overview & Purpose
College library website is like a knowledge mine for all the students, professors, and researchers. Users can easily access and utilize the online resources on this website, which houses valuable resources. Having a library, learning tutorials online, and borrowing books has greatly benefited my studies. Even so, sometimes I feel lost while navigating the website, and some of the buttons are confusing. We were tasked to build a library web application for the college as a team. Throughout this project, I looked critically at the existing system, conducted research on students' expectations from a library system, and communicated the concept with the engineering team.

Problem Statement
Students complain about the lack of clarity on the current library website and are unable to do basic tasks such as checking the availability of books articles and checking for updates. In many cases, students already have borrowed a book by the time they locate one they want. Additionally, students were unable to find different content, such as audiobooks and eBooks.
Process Overview
In the course of our research, we interviewed students in person and surveyed them using a Google Form. In addition to students from different years, the participants included professors, lecturers, and the library management team.
100% of participants mentioned navigation issues with the current system.
Students could borrow and return books only in 5% of cases.
About 75% of teachers complained about the interface and layout of the on-screen items.
There was confusion on the login screen, according to the library management team.
In surveys, 82% of students said they were frustrated with the lack of categories for books.
Interviews
For our primary research, we interviewed 15 individuals mainly students, professors and library staff of varying ages, genders, and majors.
Interviewees were asked how the website could be improved after visiting it and what pain points they have.
Several participants noted that the UI on the website is too old and difficult to figure out what is happening.
It was reported that students were not able to save or bookmark their work.
Professors wished there was another option for logging in.
Participants requested a "my profile" section.
Staff members requested the use of "keyword" for browsing.
Many students expressed frustration about not being able to make payments online.
High Fidelity
After visiting the website the user
will land on a home page where they can
browser through different categories,
login into the account or use the quick
chat option.
Students and Faculty can enter their login details to access their profile.
After entering the webiste users can see different different sections of books, articles, video lectures, journals, audiobooks and much more.
When a user selects a book or article to read, it will open the reading view.
Users can access their profile to view pending payments, pay the bills, history of books borrowed, and provide feedback.
